Ways You Can Help the Greyhounds
- Foster a greyhound (This is the most important thing you can
do to help).
- Adopt a greyhound (or two) and tell your friends what fantastic
pets they make.
- Become a Volunteer and assist in a variety of ways.
- Become an Associate Member and participate in many events.
- Donate dog food or supplies (old blankets, comforters, baby
gates, towels, nail clippers, shampoo, dog biscuits, dog toys,
rawhides.)
- Donate money (cash, check, loose change) whatever you can
afford. No amount is too small.
- Donate a crate (must be a minimum of 30" high for a greyhound.)
- Donate a roll of stamps for the newsletter or other mailings.
- Transport a greyhound from the racing kennel to his foster
home.
- Transport a greyhound to and from the vet.
- Donate Advantage, Frontline, glucosamine or Rimadyl.
- Donate raffle items for a fund-raising event.
- Hold a garage sale and donate the proceeds to help the greys.
- Write an article for the newsletter; help assemble and mail
the newsletter.
- Have a greyhound-theme birthday party with guests donating
money or supplies for the foster greys. (We will bring a foster
dog, a volunteer to answer questions, and information regarding
greyhounds.)
- Sponsor the cost of one newsletter.
- Help organize a fund-raising event (bake sale, silent auction,
car wash, pancake breakfast, walk-a-thon, etc.)
- Sew greyhound coats, collars, or belly bands (for male greyhounds.)
- Regularly attend the meet-and-greets, hold foster greys and
tell the public about greyhounds as pets.
- Solicit donations from local businesses for fund-raising events.
- Bake some dog biscuits to raise funds for the greyhounds.
- Donate your professional services as an accountant, attorney,
vet, printer, photographer, media consultant, artist, etc.
- Purchase a copy of “Adopting the Racing Greyhound”
from us or from a book seller and donate it to your local library.
- Purchase your greyhound-related items from us (collars, leashes,
t-shirts, calendars, glucosamine, greyhound books, greyhound coats,
etc.)
- Attend our picnics and buy raffle tickets and bid on auction
items.
- Help set up a meet-and-greet at a new location.
- Have your greyhound certified as a pet therapy dog and participate
with us in pet therapy at area hospitals, children's homes, nursing
homes, and assisted living centers. (Ask us about having your
greyhound certified.)
- Help bathe and groom the foster greyhounds.
- Help wrap gifts at Christmas or help with pet photos with
Santa.
- Help search for greyhounds that have accidentally gotten out
and return them to their homes.
